Our Kareri Lake Travel Story Begins from Chandigarh
Day 1: Chandigarh to Kareri Village (Via Dharamshala)
On 10th April, we started our journey from Chandigarh with friends toward Kareri Lake. The drive toward Dharamshala was scenic and refreshing. From Dharamshala, Kareri Village is approximately 24 km away.
We reached Nohali, a peaceful riverside location near Kareri Village. We decided to set up our riverside camping here.

The evening was calm and beautiful:
- Flowing river sound
- Cool mountain breeze
- Peaceful surroundings
We enjoyed dinner and rested early because the next day we planned to start the Kareri Lake trek. 🏕️

Day 2: Kareri Lake Trek Begins
On 11th April, we woke up early, packed our bags, and started trekking toward Kareri Lake.
The trek was slightly difficult due to snow on the upper sections, but the weather was sunny, which helped us continue comfortably.
After around 6 hours, we reached approximately 1.5 km before Kareri Lake. Suddenly, the weather started changing, and clouds covered the mountains.
For safety, we decided to set up camp before reaching the lake and planned to continue early in the
morning.
This decision turned out to be the best one.
Night Adventure: Heavy Rain
After dinner, we slept early. During the night, heavy rainfall continued for hours. Luckily, we had set up camp in a safe place where snow accumulation was low.
Despite the rain, we were completely safe. This added an adventurous experience to our Kareri Lake trip. 🌧️
Day 3: Reaching Kareri Lake
On 12th April, we woke up early and started our final trek toward Kareri Lake.
Within 1.5 hours, we finally reached the lake.
The view was breathtaking:

- Heavy snowfall
- Kareri Lake covered with 90% snow
- White mountain landscape
- Peaceful surroundings
We explored the lake, clicked photos, and visited the Kareri Lake temple to seek blessings. This was the most peaceful moment of our trip. ❄️
Return Journey
After spending some time at Kareri Lake, we started descending.
- Downhill trek took approx 3 hours
- We cooked Maggi
- Enjoyed lunch in mountains
- Witnessed beautiful valley views
The valley was full of Buransh (Rhododendron) flowers, greenery, and snow peaks — making the return journey equally beautiful. 🌸
After reaching Kareri village, we headed back to Chandigarh, ending a wonderful trip.
