Giri Ganga Camping: A Weekend Escape into Nature
Sometimes, all it takes to feel alive again is a good ride, a few close friends, and the soothing sound of a flowing river. That’s exactly what we experienced last weekend when five of us decided to take a break from the hustle of Chandigarh and set out on our bikes. Our destination? The peaceful and scenic Giri Ganga region in Solan. What began as a casual weekend plan quickly turned into an unforgettable Giri Ganga camping adventure—packed with laughter, thrilling moments, and memories we’ll cherish forever.
The Journey Begins

We kicked off early in the morning, loading up our bikes with tents, sleeping bags, essentials—and of course, a kilo of charcoal and some deliciously marinated chicken (because what’s a camping trip without a BBQ?). The ride from Chandigarh to Solan is always beautiful, but the stretch leading to Giri Ganga took things to a whole new level. Cool breeze in our faces, winding mountain roads, and tall deodar trees lining the path—it truly felt like nature welcoming us with open arms.
Finding the Perfect Spot

By late afternoon, we reached a peaceful riverside near Giri Ganga. The spot was a hidden gem—flat ground for pitching tents, surrounded by thick forest, and just a few feet from the gurgling river. We set up our two tents (with some very dramatic “pro-camper” behavior from the group), and soon our little campsite was ready. The calm river sounds, crisp mountain air, and untouched beauty around us set the perfect stage for our Giri Ganga camping adventure.
Crossing the River – The Unexpected Fun

One of us had a wild idea—“Let’s cross the river and see what’s on the other side!” What seemed like a simple plan quickly turned into a mini adventure. The water was ice-cold, and the rocks underneath were super slippery. We slipped, splashed, and shouted our way across the river, laughing all the way. It wasn’t easy, but that made it even more fun. It was one of those unplanned moments that made the trip extra special.
Campfire, Stories & Starry Skies

As the sun dipped behind the hills, it was time for our favorite part of the night—campfire time! We gathered wood, lit a warm fire, and set up a small grill to cook some tasty snacks. The smell of grilled paneer and spices mixed with the fresh mountain air made everything feel special. Sitting around the fire, sharing stories, laughing, and enjoying warm food under the stars—this was the true joy of our Giri Ganga camping night.
Morning Dip & Peaceful Temple Visit

We woke up to a chilly, beautiful morning. The river sparkled in the golden sunlight, and someone shouted, “Let’s jump in!” Before we knew it, all five of us were shivering in the freezing river, laughing like kids. That dip felt like a cleanse for the body and soul.
After packing up, we rode to Kali Ka Tibba in Chail, a peaceful hilltop temple with jaw-dropping views. On the way, we picked some bright red Buransh flowers, known for their medicinal properties and beauty. The calm at the temple added a perfect spiritual touch to our wild weekend.

Last Stop – Food That Warms the Soul
On our way back to Chandigarh, we stopped at a small dhaba near Chail. No fancy food here—just love on a plate. We had buttery paranthas, spicy Maggi, and steaming hot Kadhi Chawal. After all the cold water and mountain chills, this homely food hit just right.

Final Thoughts
This Giri Ganga camping trip wasn’t about fancy hotels or tight plans. It was about being in nature, bonding with friends, and collecting moments that truly matter. From the freezing river crossing to chicken by the fire, every second was worth it.
So if you’re someone craving peace, laughter, and a little wildness—Giri Ganga camping might be just what your soul needs. Pack your bags, call your friends, and just go. Sometimes, the best stories come from the most unexpected journeys.
Until the next adventure — stay wild, stay free!
